Subject: YAESU FT767GX mod
CEO document contents:
I have recently purchased the aforementioned transceiver. I have had no
problems to speak of and enjoy the rig thoroughly. I would like to
submit the following mod for the rig. Note that implementation on this
mod is at the rig owner's risk and may violate warranties. Here is a
description of the mod:
o Remove the bottom cover (8 screws: 4 underneath, 2 on each side)
o Remove the plastic rear panel. (Just a cosmetic piece)
o Remove the rear metal panel. (So many screws)
o Loosen the "hinge" screws on the front bottom. There are 4 of them.
o Lift the now loose card tray to expose to inner circuit boards. Be
careful! There are two power supply lines that need to be disconnected.
(Remember to reconnect them on assembly.) (one is the control board,
the other the one we want.) Note that the board we will mod is the same
one that has the switch that allows changing the tuning dial from
5kHz/rev to 10kHz/rev.
o Change the position of switch S01. The rig will now transmit from 1.5
to 29.99999 MHz.
o Reverse the disassembly procedure.
Well that's it. You are now ready for any band addition that may come
our way. If you have problems, reply; I'll try to answer your
questions.

Subject: YAESU FT767GX GENERAL COVERAGE MODIFICATION
CEO file contents:
I have recently purchased the aforementioned transceiver. I have had
no
problems to speak of and enjoy the rig thoroughly. I would like to
submit the following mod for the rig. Note that implementation on this
mod is at the rig owner's risk and may violate warranties. Here is a
description of the mod:
- Remove two screws from the top near the front of the rig.
- Remove the bottom cover (8 screws: 4 underneath, 2 on each side)
- Remove the plastic rear panel. (8 screws)
- Remove the rear metal panel. (10 screws in back + 1 on each side)
- Loosen the "hinge" screws on the front bottom. There are 4 of them.
- CAREFULLY lift front of the rig over the bottom watching as to not
destroy the two bundles of wire that run vertically in the rear
corners of the rig. There are two power supply lines that need to be
disconnected in the midst of this manuever; they have connectors near
the power supply. (Remember to reconnect them on assembly.) You will
now notice that we have exposed a small circuit baord (the control
board). Underneath it is the one we want under the metal
covering. You may want to remove the two screws located near the
front of the rig. Note that this board is the same one that has the
switch that allows changing the tuning dial from 5kHz/rev to
10kHz/rev.
- Locate switch S01 and change its position. The rig will now transmit
from 1.5 to 29.99999 MHz.
- Reverse the disassembly procedure.
Well that's it. You are now ready for any band addition that may come
our way. If you have problems, reply; I'll try to answer your
questions. 73s de KA1TIH : (Ken Chilton)MARS Mod for the Yaesu FT-767GX
There is a switch about middle way of the stacked boards in the 767.
When flipped in the opposite direction of the way it comes from the
factory will give you transmitting capabilities on every freq. that
the rig receives. Pretty nifty, huh?
73 de Jerry, KK4TV @ WA4JUB.TN .
FOR 2 METERS TURN BATTERY BACK-UP OFF, (U'LL LOSE WHATS IN THERE SO WRITE
THEM DOWN) TURN RIG OFF. PRESS AND HOLD #3 KEY WHILE TURNING RIG BACK ON.
2 METERS NOW SHOULD COVER 10 MHz RANGE (140-150)
HOPE THIS HELPS...

Another way of doing it...
Subject: FT-767 TRANSMIT MOD
IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO GET YOUR FT-767 TO TRANSMIT ANYWHERE THAT IT WILL RECEIVE
JUST REMOVE THE COVERS AND LOOK ON THE TOP BOARD JUST UNDER THE SHIELD
COVERING THE PC BOARD NOTICE A SMALL WHITE SWITCH IN THE CENTER OF THE RADIO.
FLIP THIS SWITCH TO THE OTHER POSITION AND IT WILL NOW TRANSMIT ANYWHERE.
ALSO IF YOU WANT THE FT-767 TO TRANSMIT OUT OF THE REGULAR 2 METERFREQUNCY
RANGE, ALL YOU HAVE TO DO IS TO REDO THE INITIALIZATION PROCESS FOR INSTALLING
THE 2 METER MODULE BUT INSTEAD OF RESETING WITH THE KEY IN THE MANUAL, POWER
UP THE RIG WHILE HOLDING THE 'OFFSET' KEY. THE RIG WILL THEN RX AND TX OUTSIDE
THE REGULAR HAM BAND ON 2.
